Background: I wrote this poem as one part of the series for the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
For War Victims
This war has torn lives to shreds.
Believe me for I tell you truth.
Pieces of lives just float to bed
While nothing is done and nothing is said.
I saw a sight this very day.
I cried inside; my feelings swayed.
Two people were as dead as mice on clay
But closed my eyes to wish it away.
Seen strife so much my feelings are numb.
This war has made me succumb
To helplessness in my ivory tower
While children moan and grown men cower.
These victims of war could be your other;
A friend, a son, a sister or mother.
So why don’t we open our eyes to see
That thousands are dying so needlessly?
