To Boston from Gloria-Deo Agbasi

Background: This a poem, which I originally wrote for the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. I have since re-dedicated it to Boston after the April 15, 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. #BostonStrong

To Boston from Gloria-Deo Agbasi

On some days, the rain comes down

In sheets so heavy

There is no sound.

On other days, I feel it light

Then sun shines out

The day is bright.

But how about those rainy days

When sad songs sing our world to blue?

My feelings and shadows are left in a daze

My heart just shudders

But leaves no clue.

People around us lose their lives

In ways so tragic –

(The rain again) –

While others shrug

And kill like flies

Young children on sleds,

Old women, and men.
